Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.0.2.x
VMware vSphere Replication 9.0.2.x

Cause

  • The hostname "photon-machine" is used when deploying the appliance.
  • Hostname "photon-machine" entry available in /etc/hosts.
    • Deployed: /etc/hosts
      # Begin /etc/hosts (network card version)

      ::1         ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback
      127.0.0.1   localhost.localdomain
      127.0.0.1   localhost
      127.0.0.1   photon-machine
      # End /etc/hosts (network card version)

Resolution

  1. Updating the /etc/hosts file in the VMware Live Site Recovery/vSphere Replication appliance.
    • After changed: /etc/hosts
      # Begin /etc/hosts (network card version)

      ::1       <FQDN hostname> <Short hostname> ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback
      127.0.0.1 <FQDN hostname> <Short hostname> localhost.localdomain
      127.0.0.1 <FQDN hostname> <Short hostname> localhost
      # 127.0.0.1 photon-machine
      # End /etc/hosts (network card version)

    NOTE: Register the appliance's FQDN and short hostname, and comment out the photon-machine entry.

  2. Restart the syslog service after editing the /etc/hosts file.
