Issue/Introduction

As part of disaster recovery, the protected VM migration completes within a few minutes; however, upon reviewing the VM details, the status is shown as “Inactive.”

Cause

RAW/RDM disks are not supported for HCX replication or protection

Resolution

To successfully protect a VM using HCX, all disks must be in VMDK format. RAW disks must be converted to VMDK or excluded before HCX protection can work as expected.
