Issue/Introduction

  • The users are actively working for a long duration.
  • From the /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs/vcloud-container-debug.log, the following entries are seen:
    SessionManagerImpl             | Session with id ################################ has timed out.
    SecurityServiceImpl            | Session is invalid because it has expired
  • The VM consoles opened by the same user are also terminated at the same time.
  • From the loadbalancer side, a logout request of the type /tenant/<tenant_name>/logout to one of the cells can be seen.
  • Cells are configured and reflecting the correct timezone.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x.x

Cause

This issue is caused when the user session exceeds the "Maximum session timeout" value configured in VMware Cloud Director(VCD).The user sessions and the consoles are ended cause disruption to user activity.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, configure a larger value for "Maximum session timeout" as per General VMware Cloud Director System Settings
