Issue/Introduction

Will an IDMS BACKUP extract compressed IDMS records in uncompressed format?

How can this be done?

Resolution

The IDMS BACKUP function does not decompress records. The records in the backup will still be compressed.

To extract the records in uncompressed format use the EXTRACT NETWORK utility.

It is part of the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) feature. It allows data records to be extracted from one network database and loaded into another database.
