Issue/Introduction

  • vCenter operations such as viewing VM lists, datastores, migrating VMs are slow.
  • For example, when attempting to view the VM list in a cluster or datacenter, or viewing datastores in the cluster, the host list appears very slowly, leading to a delay in performing operations.
  • /var/log/vmware/vpshere-ui/logs/dataservice.log
    • [YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS] [ERROR] -nio-127.0.0.1-5090-exec-637 70026560 101130 200049 RiseToViseResult [queryId: q-33519:h5c-ListViewController] Returning partial results as one or more data providers responded with error. com.vmware.vise.core.model.exception.CompositeException: CompositeException.
The query execution timed out because of a back-end property provider 'Property provider com.simplivity.webclient.rest.ppa.RestPropertyProviderAdapter' which took more than 120 seconds. Waiting for MVA/SVA node validation took too long.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

VMware vCenter Server 9.x

Cause

The query execution timed out due to delays caused by the installed HPE SimpliVity vCenter plugin.

Resolution

  • Reach out to HPE SimpliVity support for assistance in identifying the root cause of the delay.
  • If the issue requires immediate mitigation, consider disabling or uninstalling the HPE SimpliVity plugin to confirm whether it is the source of the performance degradation.
