Issue/Introduction

  • VMware Aria Operations for Logs is unable to parse Windows log files encoded in BIG5 with ANSI format.
  • Converting the same Windows log file to UTF-8 encoding allows VMware Aria Operations for Logs to parse the file correctly.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Logs

Cause

Aria Operations for Logs supports only UTF-8, UTF-16LE, and UTF-16BE character encodings. Refer Collect Log Events from a Log File

Resolution

Ensure that Windows log files are stored in UTF-8, UTF-16LE, or UTF-16BE encoding to allow successful parsing by VMware Aria Operations for Logs.
