Issue/Introduction

Clarity and Data Warehouse schema deployed in separate database with all required data warehouse configurations have been correctly implemented, certain out-of-the-box reports fail to execute and return the error message: “Report Timed Out. Please add more filters and try again.”

Steps to Reproduce: 

1. Set up Clarity Schema and Data warehouse schema in different database
2. Ensure configuration of Data warehouse settings are filled under Classic UX--> Administration --> System Options --> Data warehouse options 
   • Language
   • Entity For Fiscal Period
   • Include Sql Curve Data
   • Enable Instantaneous Sync
   • Include Weekly Period Data
   • Include Monthly Period Data
   • Include Fiscal Period Data
   • Consistent Fiscal Periods across Entities
   • Include only financial Plan of Record
3. Run the Job Load Data warehouse Job is completing successfully
4. Navigate to MUX --> Reporting --> Available Reports
5. Click on each of the below reports 
   • Capacity vs. Demand by Resource (Sample)
   • Financial Budget vs. Forecast by Period (Sample)
   • Financial Capitalization and Transaction History (Sample)
   • Financial Forecast Review by Investment and Transaction History (Sample)
   • Investment Allocations and Assignments (Sample)
   • KPIs by Project Type Dashboard (Sample)
   • KPIs by Project Type (Sample)
   • Project Status Report (Sample)
   • Resource Time Review by Manager (Sample)
   • Risk, Issue and Change Request Registers (Sample)
   • Roadmap Planning Dashboard (Sample)

Expected Results: All the out of box sample reports should run successfully

Actual Results: Out of 11 reports provided only 3 opens up successfully without errors. The reports are below 

• • KPIs by Project Type (Sample)
  • Project Status Report (Sample)
  • Risk, Issue and Change Request Registers (Sample)

The error seen in the UI is below and app ca logs are filled with errors

Environment

Clarity 16.3.x, 16.4.0 with Oracle Database when both Clarity and Data warehouse Schema set up in different databases

Cause

DE180482

• Oracle restricts this
  • Oracle’s distributed SQL engine supports only relational datatypes across DB links.
    Object types:
    • Have methods
    • Encapsulate internal structure
    • Depend on type metadata in the local database
  • This makes safe and consistent remote execution impossible.
• Clarity and Data warehouse schema has custom data type hence this error is seen 
• All out of box reports use DWH_CRV_SQL_CURVE_PKG package which reads data from Clarity and DWH
