How to update Aria Automation Config Windows deployments to install 3006.18

Issue/Introduction

You want to update your windows deployments in Aria Automation 8.16 or 8.17 to install minion versions higher than 3006.9 using Aria Automation

This guide assumes the following prerequisites have been met:

• You are on a stand alone build of Automation Config 8.16.2 or 8.17 (not an LCM deployed appliance)
• Your Salt Master has already been upgraded to the version of minion you desire to install or higher. 
• You have already configured Automation to deploy Windows Minions version 3006.9 and you can currently deploy this version or higher without issue. 

Environment

• Aria Automation Config 8.16.x Standalone install (Not applicable to an Aria Lifecycle deployed appliance)
• Aria Automation Config 8.17 Standalone install (Not applicable to an Aria Lifecycle deployed appliance)

Resolution

Find the latest minion install files, and prepare them for deployment through Aria Automation.

1. Download the desired windows minion version/installer type from Salt Minion Windows Packages 
   
   
2. Compress it and convert to a tar.gz file (keeping the same naming convention as the existing files)
   tar -cvzf salt-3006.18-windows--AMD64.tar.gz Salt-Minion-3006.18-Py3-AMD64-Setup.exe
   
   
3. Move the new minion file to /etc/salt/cloud.deploy.d
   mv tar -cvzf salt-3006.18-windows--AMD64.tar.gz Salt-Minion-3006.18-Py3-AMD64-Setup.exe /etc/salt/cloud.deploy.d
   
   
4. Remove the 3006.9 files from the directory. In this example the files are moved to a temp directory:
   mv salt-3006.9-windows--AMD64.tar.gz /temp
   
   
5. Request a new build with a minion in Aria Automation. It should now deploy the new version.
