Credential-less discovery not working for IIS service

Issue/Introduction

You are trying to get IIS service alerting to work in Aria Operations, but it does not appear to work out of the box:

• Virtual machines are configured for credential-less Service Discovery
• The Availability and Health metrics for the IIS service always report -1
• The IIS service may not appear for virtual machines with IIS under Operations > Applications > Manage SDMP Services > (Virtual Machine) > Services Discovered
• Restarting the Service Discovery adapter does not resolve the issue
• You have met all requirements for Service Discovery per Configure Service and Application Discovery

Windows Server 2022

Cause

A configuration change implemented in Aria Operations 8.18.5 to remediate a security vulnerability inadvertently prevents the Service Discovery Management Pack (SDMP) from correctly identifying IIS services on Windows Server 2022 when using credential-less discovery.

Resolution

There is currently no permanent fix for this discovery behavior in version 8.18.5.
