In VMware Aria Automation, you are unable to create a Kubernetes cluster for the Private AI service. This issue occurs specifically in environments containing over 500 projects.
Symptoms include:
Cloud Consumption Interface (CCI).Private AI Foundation (PAIF) GPU guaranteed reservation features. All Apps Org) model. This typically impacts customers transitioning through an upgrade path from VCF Automation 8.x to 9.x, as PAIF features require modern tenancy and are unavailable in the 8.x series.
VMware Aria Automation 8.18.x
The root cause is a project scaling limitation within the CCI when operating under modern tenancy. Upon upgrading to version 9.x, both CCI and PAIF require the All Apps Org modern tenancy model, which currently cannot scale effectively for cluster creation when the project count exceeds 500. Soft-tenancy is not supported for these specific workloads.
Plan an upgrade to VMware Aria Automation 8.18.4 or higher once available. This release contains the formal fix to integrate scaling capabilities into the product core for high-project-count environments.
If an immediate fix is required before the release of version 8.18.4, apply the provided hotpatch to your VMware Aria Automation environment.
