Issue/Introduction

Can HCX vMotion of a virtual machine impact other virtual machines running in the same environment?

Specifically, does initiating an HCX vMotion for one workload have any effect on the performance, connectivity, or availability of other virtual machines on the same hosts or clusters?

Environment

VMware HCX

Resolution

No, HCX vMotion of a virtual machine does not impact other virtual machines. HCX vMotion operates at an individual workload level, and the migration process is isolated to the selected virtual machine only, without affecting other virtual machines running on the same hosts or clusters.

Other virtual machines continue to run normally, Any issues observed on non-migrated workloads during the same timeframe are typically unrelated to the HCX vMotion process and may be caused by application level dependencies, network or other environmental factors.
