Issue/Introduction

Difference in S3 recommendations.

Resolution

S3 recommendations are calculated weekly, based on the size of each storage class provided in the billing data. Sometimes, the bill updates the size entry for the previous week after our analysis is complete. This results in CloudHealth analysis using a smaller size than the actual one, which leads to an overestimation of savings.

S3 recommendations are provided at the bucket level and are intended to guide analysis on whether the access pattern aligns with the storage class size. For example, if a significant amount of data is in S3 Standard but queries are infrequent, the folders should be analyzed for potential lifecycle policy changes.

Because of this, Sometimes CloudHealth S3 recommendations may not be able to get accurate savings number, but more of a direction the bucket should be moving towards.
