Issue/Introduction

  • Transport Node Status shows DEGRADED on UI after reinstallation (Uninstall and Install again).
  • GET /api/v1/transport-zones/transport-node-status says status is DEGRADED.
  • NSX Maintenance Mode is set to true in /etc/vmware/nsx/controller-info.xml
    <maintenanceMode>true</maintenanceMode>
  • The transport node entered NSX Maintenance Mode before uninstallation. Host may enter NSX Maintenance Mode including following scenarios:
    • A user manually entered the host into NSX Maintenance Mode
    • Migration from N-VDS to VDS on the host failed.
    • NSX Upgrading the host failed.
  • Transport Node was uninstalled with Force Delete checked. Uninstall NSX from a Standalone ESX Host.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.2.x

Cause

With Force Delete option, transport node entry on NSX Manager is deleted while NSX VIBs on the host remains the same.
Uninstall NSX from a Standalone ESX Host.

Resolution

While reinstallation, try Uninstall NSX Components without Force Delete to clean up the host.
When Uninstalled NSX Components with Force Delete, manually delete NSX Components to clean up the host with the command "nsxcli -c del nsx".
