Issue/Introduction

Uninstalling a custom Management Pack in VMware Aria Operations does not remove the associated properties from the objects in the inventory. You want to clean up properties from the objects that are no longer publishing data because the Management Pack has been uninstalled.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

The uninstallation of a custom Management Pack removes the adapter and content definitions but does not automatically delete property instances already written to the Aria Operations database. As a result, property metrics created by the Management Pack remain in the database and continue to be associated with inventory objects even after the Management Pack is removed.

Resolution

It is possible to delete the properties from the objects after a custom management pack is uninstalled. If you encounter this issue, please contact Broadcom Support and reference Knowledge Article ID 422800 in the problem description. For more information, see How to Submit a Support Request.
