Unable to see objects in vCenter when using [email protected]

Issue/Introduction

• Following error may be seen in vSphere GUI:
  "Could not connect to one or more vCenter Server Systems"
• UI access degregades leading to UI timeout
• Browser developer tools display a 404 error related to websso.js
• "Virtual Machine CPU usage" alert may be generated for vCenter VM
• vCenter snapshot exists and are older than 72 hours 
• vCenter not in Extended Link mode

 

Environment

7.x, 8.x, 9.x

Cause

The snapshot file will continue to grow in size when it is retained for a longer period and will impact system performance the older/larger the snapshot gets.

 

Resolution

1. Delete or consolidate all snapshots older than 72 hours. 
2. Adhere to best practices for using VMware snapshots in the vSphere environment.
