Issue/Introduction

  • Newly created cluster directly via vCenter Server do not automatically appear in the VCF Ops inventory.
  • Inventory views in SDDC Manager appear outdated or incomplete.
  • No immediate error messages are displayed during cluster creation in vCenter.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x

Cause

SDDC Manager inventory is out of sync with vCenter. When clusters are created directly in vCenter, SDDC Manager does not automatically refresh its inventory, causing discrepancies between management components.

Resolution

Manually trigger a Sync Inventory from VCF Ops. Steps to Sync Inventory in VCF 9.0:

  1. Login to VCF Ops UI.
  2. Navigate to the Inventory tab on the left-hand navigation pane.
  3. Select the VCF Instance (Management or Workload) that is experiencing the visibility gap.
  4. Click the Actions button located in the top-right corner of the interface.
  5. From the dropdown menu, select Sync Inventory.
  6. Monitor the Tasks panel at the bottom of the screen to ensure the "Sync Inventory" operation completes successfully.
