Issue/Introduction
An Availability Zone (AZ) is configured under the Service Engine Group in the NSX-T Cloud, with a selected cluster and a specific datastore.
UI Path: Infrastructure → Service Engine Group → Scope → Availability Zone → AZ Datastores
During Service Engine deployment, the selected host can access the configured datastore. However, the Service Engine is placed on a different available datastore instead of the one defined in the Availability Zone, even though the deployment completes successfully.
Environment
VMware Avi Load Balancer
Cloud Type: NSX-T
Affected Version: 31.2.1-2p1
Cause
In version 31.2.1-2p1, datastore scoping for Availability Zones in NSX-T Cloud does not function as expected.
The Cloud Connector evaluates all datastores in vCenter during Service Engine placement.
Avi may select the best available datastore instead of the datastore explicitly included in the Availability Zone configuration.
Resolution
This issue is fixed in the future release version 31.2.2.
Once the version is available, upgrade the Avi Controller to 31.2.2 to ensure Availability Zone datastore scoping is enforced.
