During Service Engine deployment, the datastore included in the Availability Zone is not selected

Issue/Introduction

• An Availability Zone (AZ) is configured under the Service Engine Group in the NSX-T Cloud, with a selected cluster and a specific datastore.
• UI Path: Infrastructure → Service Engine Group → Scope → Availability Zone → AZ Datastores

• During Service Engine deployment, the selected host can access the configured datastore. However, the Service Engine is placed on a different available datastore instead of the one defined in the Availability Zone, even though the deployment completes successfully.

Environment

• VMware Avi Load Balancer
• Cloud Type: NSX-T
• Affected Version: 31.2.1-2p1

Cause

• In version 31.2.1-2p1, datastore scoping for Availability Zones in NSX-T Cloud does not function as expected.
• The Cloud Connector evaluates all datastores in vCenter during Service Engine placement.
• Avi may select the best available datastore instead of the datastore explicitly included in the Availability Zone configuration.

Resolution

• This issue is fixed in the future release version 31.2.2.
• Once the version is available, upgrade the Avi Controller to 31.2.2 to ensure Availability Zone datastore scoping is enforced.
