Issue/Introduction

Running running Policy Server, in the past couple of months, the average memory available on the machine decreased.

The Policy Server machine was rebooted around 86 days ago.

The smpolicysrv process uses 2% of the CPU, and around 20% of the memory.

The memory total for the machine is 8 GB.

The machine's CPU is an AMD one.

Environment

2 Policy Server 12.8SP8CR01 on RedHat 8;

Resolution

Since the start, the Policy Server process has added more or less 14 Mb avg of memory each day.

This is as expected for a Policy Server that serves requests, and it uses a lot of cache.

It's expected for the Policy Server to grow its memory usage to more or less 2 Gb.

The only way to keep the Policy Server using the same amount of memory is to have the Policy Server alone, without serving requests to Agent or AdminUI.

As soon as the AdminUI starts and the Web Agent (or the CA Access Gateway (SPS)) serves requests, then the Policy Server memory increases.

It's considered that the Policy Server will use something like 2 GB of RAM (1).
