Issue/Introduction

The error message Problem: Interface Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection(EthernetO 2): High bandwidth usage (>90%) VM name is observed on the Zabbix monitoring tool.

Environment

VMware vsphere

Cause

The VM is currently equipped with an E1000E adapter, capping its maximum bandwidth at 1 Gbps. Consequently, the alarm is generated whenever traffic volume hits the 90% utilization threshold defined in the monitoring tool.

Resolution

Replacing the E1000E with a VMXNET3 adapter will increase the bandwidth ceiling from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps, offering superior performance and better resource efficiency for the VM.
