Issue/Introduction

  • This article is to introduce how to identify "Delete Product" operation from Usage Meter log.
  • Sometimes there may be time gap in the usage report exported from VCSP, it is necessary to check the product availability during the gap.

Here NSX-T is used as example, the product name may vary based on actual situation.

  • In /var/log/vmware-um-platform/dss_main.log, there are entries as below:

    YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS  INFO --- [https-jsse-nio-xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx-xxxx-exec-xx] c.v.u.dss.controllers.ProductController  : Got request to delete product of type: NSX-T with id: <ID>.
    YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS  INFO --- [https-jsse-nio-xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx-xxxx-exec-xx] c.vmware.um.dss.handler.ProductService   : Deleting product NSX-T/<ID>

  • In /var/nginx/logs/access.log, there is entry as below:

    <Client IP address> - - [DD/MM/YYYY:HH:MM:SS +0000] "DELETE /api/v1/product?id=19&productType=NSX-T&forget=true HTTP/2.0" 202 0 "https://<Usage Meter IP address>/products/nsx-t" "<Client Information>"
