Firewall rule logs are not present in VMware Cloud Director

Issue/Introduction

• Even though firewall logging is configured, details are not visible within the VMware Cloud Director user interface.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

VMware Aria Operations for Logs with the NSX content pack must be installed and configured as well as configuring the log ingestion from VMware Aria Ops for Logs within VMware Cloud Director are required prerequisites for this functionality, as discussed in the following documentation:

Configure a Log Provider in VMware Cloud Director

VMware Cloud Director is not collecting these logs directly and will be unable to display this information without this external infrastructure.

Resolution

In order to collect and view the firewall logs in VMware Cloud Director, complete the documented logging configuration requirements.
