Issue/Introduction

Following an SE switchover, one or more of the following symptoms may be observed:

  • Virtual Services remain stuck in the “VIP programming in progress” state

  • SE Agent reports repeated “SE Agent hung” messages

  • SE Agent crashes at se_ag_vserver_read_se_list_pre()

Environment

Avi Load Balancer version 31.1.1

Cause

This issue occurs in environments using a shared pool or pool group configuration. During an SE switchover, the SE Agent thread may become unresponsive (hung), leading to the observed symptoms.

The condition can be confirmed by reviewing SE logs. After an SE failover event, continuous SE Agent hung messages are logged in:

/var/log/avi/log/se_trace.*

Example log entry:

SE Agent hung for more than 3459 seconds...!!!

Resolution

Workaround:

Restart all affected SE virtual machines from the hypervisor.

Permanent Fix:

The issue is resolved in the following releases:

    • 31.2.1

    • 31.1.2
