Issue/Introduction

Status of 'Provider' at some clusters is 'Unknown' from the TMC-SM dashboards.

Environment

VMware Tanzu Mission Control - SM

Cause

Run: "kubectl  -n vmware-system-tmc logs --tail=-1 deployment/extension-updater"

From the output of the command `kubectl -n vmware-system-tmc get agent -o yaml` we can see there no field `metadata.cloudProvider` which is the source setting of "Provider" on the UI, now it's unset, that's why the UI shows as "Unknown".

    metadata:
      clusterCPU:
        allocatable: "24"
        allocatedPercentage: "28"
        capacity: "24"
        requests: 6750m
        units: ""
      clusterMemory:
        allocatable: 89376668Ki
        allocatedPercentage: "34"
       capacity: 89991068Ki
        requests: 30028Mi
        units: ""
      defaultStorageClasses:
      - sc-vsan-dev
      kubeServerVersion: v1.28.7+vmware.1
      kubernetesProvider:
        type: 1
        version: v2.5.1
      namespacesCount: 30
      physicalMemory: 87876
      podCount: 199
      vcpuCount: 24000
     workerNodeCount: 6
    status: 4

Resolution

After executing "kubectl -n vmware-system-tmc rollout restart deployment extension-updater"
All clusters whose provider items came out as Unknown in TMC have been changed to vSphere.
