Issue/Introduction

  • The Edges are deployed using the new workflow introduced in VCF 9 via vCenter
  • The TEP MTU is displayed as 1700 during deployment on VC, and the fp-eth interfaces have the same MTU configured post deployment.
  • The TEP MTU changed on NSX post deployment does not change the MTU on the already deployed edge's fp-eth interfaces

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

  • The new Network Connectivity Workflow always uses the same default NSX Edge node uplink profile "nsx-edge-multiple-vteps-uplink-profile."
  • The MTU defined within this default uplink profile is not directly editable, as the system now uses the global fabric MTU instead.

Resolution

For the edges to have higher MTU on fp-eth interfaces, before initiating the workflow, administrators must adjust the NSX Edge node Tunnel Endpoint MTU in the Global Fabric Settings (System > Fabric > Settings > Global Fabric Settings). While progressing through the workflow, the current configured global fabric MTU value will be displayed.
