Unable To Register V Sphere Replication Add-on Appliance Due To Build Mismatch

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• During the registration attempt, the following error is observed:

Operation Failed
A generic error occurred in the vSphere Replication Management Server.
Exception details:
Invocation of 'https://10.###.#.###:8123/' failed with "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out"

Environment

• vSphere Replication 9.x

Cause

• The vSphere Replication Add-On appliance is running a different build version than the Embedded vSphere Replication appliance.

• vSphere Replication requires exact version and build parity between the Embedded and Add-On appliances. If the build numbers do not match, the registration process fails.

• Due to the version mismatch, communication between the appliances over port 8123 times out, resulting in a java.net.SocketTimeoutException during registration.

Resolution

Upgrade the vSphere Replication Add-On appliance to the same version and build as the Embedded vSphere Replication appliance.
