Issue/Introduction

  • In the vSphere client, the "Low Storage" warning alarms have been observed on the vCLS VMs.
  • The alarm is being triggered on all vCLS VM/s deployed across one or more vSphere clusters within the vSphere environment described below:

Environment

  • VMware vSphere ESXi 8.0.3
  • VMware vCenter Server 8.0.3

Cause

  • A "Low storage" warning is appearing on the vCLS VM/s because a custom, cluster-level alarm is set to monitor VM provisioned space. This alarm is configured to trigger when a VM's total size on disk falls below '#' GB, as demonstrated in the following example:

Resolution

There is no underlying storage or functional issue with the vCLS VMs, so the warning on these VMs can be safely disregarded. In addition, vCLS VMs cannot be excluded from the predefined custom alarm definitions at the vCenter, cluster, or host level.
