Issue/Introduction
The vCenter server UI becomes unresponsive for several seconds when switching between different virtual machines in the inventory, while the vSAN Data Protection > Snapshot management view is opened or the Summary view with vSAN Data Protection card is enabled.
No issues reported if we navigate through the ESXi hosts.
Environment
vCenter server 8.x
vSAN 8.x
Cause
The issue is observed for virtual machines that reside on vSAN clusters with vSAN Data protection plugin.
The problem is associated with large number of virtual machines on the same cluster( over 1000 virtual machines) and is caused by slow processing of data request by the vSAN Data Protection plugin.
Resolution
VMware is aware of this issue and the fix will be provided as part of the release of 9.1 Protection and Recovery appliance that will replace the vSAN Data Protection appliance(8.3 and 9.0).
To workaround this issue, disable the VM level Portlet for data protection.
Note: The plugin name is changing in 9.1 from vSAN Data Protection to Protection and Recovery.
