HA configuration fails after vCenter upgrade

Issue/Introduction

  • On the vCenter UI, below error is seen while configuring the HA on the cluster:

    A general system error occurred: Setting solution for image failed.
    Cannot complete the configuration of the vSphere HA agent on the host. "Setting desired image spec for cluster failed".

  • On checking the /var/log/vmware/vmware-updatemgr/vum-server/vmware-vum-server.log, below error is seen:

    YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS.Z error vmware-vum-server[147366] [Originator@6876 sub=VumVapi::Utils] [DepotContentManager 438] Failed to get cached base image. No record - VCIDB ERROR: Row with primary key [Version] not found in table PM_DEPOT_BASE_IMAGES

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 7.0.x
  • VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

Inconsistency in the vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) or Update Manager (VUM) database might have occurred which causes HA configuration to fail.
