Can VIP integration with MCP’s initial setup be done without Internet connectivity such as using offline authentication?
The VIP Integration Guide for MCP noted that "Before you integrate Symantec VIP with Credential Provider for offline authentication, you must first install and configure the Symantec VIP with Microsoft Credential Provider for online authentication.”
It is mandatory for MCP to have access to either the Internet or the Intranet for online authentication with VIP cloud to occur.
This initial online connection is necessary for the credential provider to register and subsequently enable offline authentication.
Alternatively, the credential provider can communicate with the VIP cloud through the VIP Enterprise Gateway (deployed within the organization’s Intranet), in which the device will need to access this Intranet network.
Note: For security purpose, users are required to authenticate online via the VIP cloud service at least once every seven days to maintain the ability to use offline authentication.
