Issue/Introduction

The vCD UI displays the following error while trying to enable the load balancer on the Edge Gateway.:
Bad Request: Error occurred in the backing network provider: For segment /infra/segments/###-###-###, DHCP server is not configured. Please configure DHCP server at segment or at the gateway., error code 503647

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

On enabling the loadbalancer on the Edge Gateway, vCD attempts to create a service network segment which utilizes the DHCP profile attached to the T1 gateway. If there is no DHCP profile associated with the Edge Gateway, vCD will throw the error seen in UI.

Resolution

Ensure that a DHCP profile is attached to the T1 gateway in NSX-T. Usually the DHCP profile is attached on Edge Gateway creation. If it is not, it must be manually associated.

  1. Traverse to NSX-T, go to the T1 gateway and check if there is DHCP server config is enabled on this gateway.
  2. In NSX-T, go to Networking Profiles -> DHCP profile tab and see if there is a profile relevant to this gateway. It usually has the pattern of VCD-{{random_id}}-{{Edgegateway_name}}
