Issue/Introduction

• Compute vMotion task fails with following error,

• VM was configured with serial port with vSPC URI

Environment

VMware ESXi 9.x
VMware ESXi 8.x

Cause

Firewall port on VMware Esxi was blocking the connection to remote server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue configure the Esxi firewall rule to allow communication to remote server.

• Enable the remote serial port in firewall list
• Select the ESXi host>Configure>Firewall >Edit
• Quick filter for firewall rule: VM serial port connected to vSPC
• Add remote server IP and ensure that firewall rule is enabled.
• Click OK
