vCenter Server Licensing Read-Only Privilege Limitation

Issue/Introduction

• Users without the [Global] > [Licenses] privilege cannot view the contents of the [Administration] -> [Licensing] -> [Licenses] screen.
• Users with the [Global] > [Licenses] privilege are able to not only view but also manage(add, assign, delete etc.) licenses.
• This limitation specifically affects audit compliance requests where read-only access to license keys is required. There is currently no specific "Read-Only" privilege for the licensing section which could be used for audit purposes.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server

Resolution

• In vCenter Server, there is no privilege that allows only for the viewing of licenses.
• This is the current design of vCenter Server, and there is no workaround.
