ERROR: "Cannot complete the operation because the file or folder [<name>] ####/disk.vmdk already exists" during cold migration in VCDA

Issue/Introduction

•  VCDA (VMware Cloud Director Availability) Cold Migrations fail/hangs at 0.03%.
• The following error is observed at the destination vCenter:
  • Cannot complete the operation because the file or folder [##########-######] ########-####-####-####-############/disk_01.vmdk already exists
• The shell-vm creates, but gives the error as soon as data is ready to be replicated.
• The following error is logged in the /replicators/rtr-########-####-####-####-############.tar.bz2_extracted/h4dm.tar.bz2_extracted/log/h4dm.log:
  • ERROR http_req{opId=########-####-####-####-###############}:cold_mig_stream_disk:put_disk: nfclib_sys::nfc: nfc connection failed: "Host address lookup for server <ESXi> failed: Name or service not known"

Environment

• VMware Cloud Director 10.6.X
• VMware Live Recovery 4.7.3

Cause

Replication appliance is unable to resolve Hostname/DNS queries, resulting in name resolution failures that impact failover operation.

Resolution

Engage with your networking team to troubleshoot and remediate the DNS resolution issues affecting the failover operations and verify from the replication appliance that it can resolve target hostname.
