Issue/Introduction

  • CPU Allocation Used value on the Organization VDC (OrgVDC) metrics is much higher value than expected.
  • Current usage is displayed as many times greater than the dedicated allocation.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.1

Cause

In the case of the Allocation pool model, Cloud Director don't reserve CPU on per VM basis, and the OrgVDC resource pool object should show 0 "USED Reservation" value within vCenter Server. This issue occurs if there is a VM with a CPU reservation present in the OrgVDC resource pool in vCenter Server. The presence of this CPU reservation causes the overall CPU allocation calculation to become skewed in Cloud Director as the calculation expects a value of 0, but it's getting a higher value and using it as a multiplier.

Resolution

Remove the CPU reservation from the virtual machine. Allow 5 minutes for the metrics to refresh.
