Issue/Introduction

Change the virtual machine settings from the old portgroup to the new portgroup.

The network will be migrated, but when you check the network view in the vSphere Client, you will see that virtual machines are registered in both the old and new port groups.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x
VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Resolution

If you have taken a snapshot of a virtual machine and that snapshot has an existing port group configured, the virtual machine will appear in both the old and new port groups in the network view.

To remove it from the old port group, you must delete the snapshot on the virtual machine.

The virtual machine will be removed from the old port group when the snapshot is deleted.
