File event fails with U02000227 FileEvent has reached the timeout ...

Issue/Introduction

When running a File Event, especially after an upgrade or introducing changes to the agent ini file, the following messages show up in the logs:

U02000015 Periodical job test started.
U02000227 FileEvent (78815660) has reached the timeout of '30000's set in the Agent config file with parameter 'FileProcessingTimeout'. This run has been and aborted.
U02000425 FileSystem task '78815660' ended.

Environment

Version: 24.4
Agent: Linux (could also happen on Windows or other agents with file events)

Cause

The fileProcessingTimeout setting in the agent ini file may be set to an incorrect setting (like 30).  

Resolution

Check the agent ini file for the fileProcessingTimeout setting and be sure it is set to either a 0 or a -1
