Issue/Introduction

Many situations triage tab showing error and TimeLine tab has no data.

it seems like issue may be related to upgraded of UIM apm_bridge and oi_connector probes to version 2.03.

Cause

The issue started after we performed the update of the apm_bridge and oi_connector probes to version 2.03. After this update, the integration between UIM and DXO2 began to create two entities for each server: one type of IPDevice and another as Host. Even though both entities had the same cs_id in DXO2, they were not being compacted/merged properly. Although they appeared to be associated, they behaved as if they were two distinct devices.

Resolution

Identified that the root cause was related to UIM, more specifically to the net_connect probe version 4.01. The environment has a scheduled script running in NAS that creates net_connect profiles daily when they do not exist, and this script also overwrites probe configuration values.

 

     While reviewing the net_connect configuration, found the parameter:

 

default_modify = 1

 

The issue was directly related to the net_connect configuration, and by disabling/removing the default_modify parameter, the system behavior returned to normal. As a result, the entity duplication issue and the related triage problems in DXO2 also appear to be resolved.
