Issue/Introduction

When filtering by some attributes (like "Investment ID", "Staff OBS Unit"...) in "Capacity vs. Demand by Resource (Sample)" tabs like "Capacity vs. Demand by OBS" or "Capacity vs. Demand by Resource", the filter does not seem to work.

Environment

Clarity 16.4.0

Cause

These tables are based on the Data Provider "Resources, Roles and Teams", which are based in the Resource object only.

Resolution

The tables in these report tabs do not use those objects/attributes in their data providers, so filtering by those will not have any effect in the data returned.

You can check the same by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to "Reporting" > "Data Providers".
  2. In the "Data Providers" grid, filter by "Reports" "Is Equal To" "Capacity vs. Demand by Resource (Sample)".
  3. You will see two "Data Providers" used by this report:
    • Resources, Roles and Teams
    • Staff across Investments
  4. If you open "Staff across Investments" and navigate to the Objects tab, you will find the attributes "Staff OBS Unit" and "Investment ID" on their respective objects (Staff, Investment).
  5. However, if you open "Resources, Roles and Teams", you will only see one object listed - "Resource" - and those attributes you are trying to use when filtering under "Capacity vs. Demand by OBS" or "Capacity vs. Demand by Resource" are not there.
  6. Then, navigate to Reporting > Report Designer.
  7. As this is an out of the box report, in order to edit it, copy the Report with a new name, copying the earlier mapped data providers suggested in the Copy Report step:
  8. Open the new report you have created in the previous step, then navigate to "Capacity vs. Demand by OBS", then hover the mouse over the table, and select "Configure".
  9. Check the "Table properties" in the right pane and notice that the data provider for that specific report tab is "Resources, Roles and Teams", which does not use those objects/attributes:
  10. Similarly, the "Capacity vs. Demand by Resource" uses the same provider.
  11. If you check the same on the "Investment Allocations by Resource", you will see that it uses the "Staff across Investments" data provider. If you filter by any of these attributes when working with this tab in the report, you will see that the filter works for those.
