Creating a Virtual Function bond interface inside Guest OS to use with SR-IOV for Mellanox Physical Network Adapters

• Virtual Machine is configured to use Virtual Function with the help of SR-IOV.
• A Virtual Function LAG/bond has to be created inside the Guest OS.

Environment

Mellanox Physical Network Adapter

Resolution

To configure a Virtual Function LAG/bond inside the Virtual Machine, the Physical Network adapter has to be in Switchdev mode which ESXi hypervisor does not support.

Due to this reason Virtual Function LAG/bond configuration is not supported by the ESXi hypervisor.
