Aria Operations fails to detect or display the license assigned to vCenter Server

Issue/Introduction

• A vSphere solution license has been transitioned from a perpetual license to a subscription-based license.
  
  
• After adding and assigning the new solution license (e.g., VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)) to the vCenter Server, Aria Operations does not detect or dispaly updated license information for the vCenter Server.
  
  
• The VVF license assigned in vCenter Server does not appear in the Aria Operations license view as expected, as shown in the screenshot below:

Cause

The newly added license is visible under Menu > Administration > Licensing > Licenses in vCenter Server; however, it has not been assigned to any assets. Because the license is not associated with an asset (in this case, vCenter Server instance),  Aria Operations cannot retrieve or display it.

Assets are vCenter Server systems, ESXi hosts, vSAN clusters, Supervisors, and other products that integrate with vSphere.

Resolution

To continue using product functionality, assign appropropriate license to assets.

1. Login to vCenter Server using adminirative user have the Global Licenses privilege on the system.
2. Click MenuAdministration.
3. Expand Licensing and click Licenses.
4. Select the Assets tab.
5. On the Assets tab, click the vCenter Server Systems, Hosts, vSAN Clusters, Supervisors, or Solutions tab.
6. Select the assets to license.
7. Click Assign License.
8. In the Assign License dialog box, select the task that you want to perform.
   In the vSphere Client, select an existing license or select a newly created license.
9. In Aria Operations, restart data collection for the vCenter Adapter by stopping and then starting the collection.
10. Wait for 2 collection cycles (~10 minutes).
11. Re-check Subscription > Legacy licenses to see if license is now visible.
