Issue/Introduction

Taking a backup initiated or quiescing snapshot of VCSA fails with errors: 

"An error occurred while quiescing the virtual machine. See the virtual machine's event log for details. An error occurred while taking a snapshot: Failed to quiesce the virtual machine. An error occurred while saving the snapshot: Failed to quiesce the virtual machine. See the virtual machine's event log for details."

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

It is not supported/advised to take snapshots of the VCs in VCHA.

Resolution

Do not take snapshots of the VC in VCHA, if a snapshot is required ensure the Passive and Witness nodes are destroyed. After reverting, reconfigure vCenter HA.
