Issue/Introduction

  • VMs can reach any network segment with NSX
  • Ping or other traffic to IPs outside of NSX fails
  • Host to Edge TEPs are DOWN
  • Host and Edge TEPs are on separate subnets
  • vmkping from the Host TEP to the gateway fail
  • The gateway MAC is reported incomplete under "esxcli network ip neighbor list -N vxlan"

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

The Host TEPs are configured to use the wrong VLAN and cannot reach their gateway for communication to the NSX Edge uplink subnet.

Resolution

Configure the Host Transport Node Profile to use an Uplink Profile configured for the correct VLAN and able to reach the gateway for the host TEPs.
