Issue/Introduction

  • Tasks in vCenter are getting queued for more than 10 seconds which cause slowness in task completions:


  • This issue is seen very randomly and no specific task causes this issue. 
  • Upon reviewing the /var/log/vmware/vpxd/vpxd-profiler.log, below entries are seen where threads for a specific VM are in waiting_statelock state:

    ThreadState/ThreadId/1977490/State/Task::lro8580031::guestOperationsProcessManager::vim.vm.guest.ProcessManager.listProcesses::5#####ec0-79###5d-6942-08c1-f#####3e7e3(####8d-3##a9b-b###728-22##7a-997####)/State/WAITING_STATELOCK::vm-<ID>::2

Environment

  • VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Resolution

Restarting vCenter services fix this issue. Reference KB: Stop, Start or Restart Services on vCenter Server 7.x/8.x
