How and what tools can be used to monitor SMG appliance

I’d like to clarify that Symantec Messaging Gateway is primarily designed as an email security appliance focused on scanning and processing email traffic.
SMG can generate alerts only for few various product events, full list of available alert types is documented here: Types of alerts
However, for operational monitoring, Broadcom recommends integrating SMG with external monitoring systems:
Remote Syslog
SMG can send system and message logs to a remote syslog server. This allows customers to monitor critical logs in real time and configure alerts on their monitoring platform.
SNMP Monitoring
SMG provides SNMP support, including Object Identifiers (OIDs) that allow external tools to monitor resource usage and service health on the appliance.
