Network Unextension stuck at 15%, 'Configuration received <Network name>, Disconnecting vnics on remote side.'

Issue/Introduction

  • From HCX UI, when a network un-extension is triggered, task stuck at 15%.
  • Error status: 'Configuration received <Network name>, Disconnecting vnics on remote side'.
  • From cloud end the task is already in 'Failed' status.

Environment

VMware HCX

Cause

While initiating a network un-extension task from HCX, the backend real-time site pairing connectivity is validated.
If incase the "site pairing is in disconnected/down" status, the behavior is expected.

Resolution

  1. Fix site pairing connectivity, which should resume the un-extension task.
  2. If one site is with failed state, and other site task is stuck, a Force unextend option can be triggered which will forcefully initiate a "un-extension" task irrespective of validating the site pairing at the backend.

    Note: Do not initiate multiple un-extension task, this may lead to a stale job queue behavior.
