Issue/Introduction

On January 26, 2026, Broadcom introduced enhancements to the existing Registry Software Download functionality within the Broadcom Support Portal

  • IMPORTANT: All existing Registry Tokens will expire and new tokens will need to be generated and applied to the required product environments
  • Registry Tokens will be restricted to purchased products and will remain active for the duration of the purchased products contract
  • A new interface in the Support Portal will be available to generate Registry Tokens
  • A single Registry Token can be generated that will provide access to all entitled Artifactory repositories under a given support site ID
  • Registry Tokens can be revoked or regenerated in the Support Portal interface
  • A new API will be introduced to support in-product Registry Token integrations
  • A new API will be provided to generate tokens programmatically without having to visit the Support Portal

Note, the enhancements to the Registry Tokens will not impact any existing Download Tokens.

  • Registry Tokens are used for container image downloads (i.e. Kubernetes image, database downloads, etc.), cloud downloads, auto-install capabilities for a variety of Software products (i.e. Mainframe, Enterprise, Cyber Security, VCF, Tanzu).
  • Download Tokens are used for on-prem VMware software downloads. This functionality is only available to the Product Administrators on the site ID and will not be impacted by the enhancements to the Registry Tokens.

Resolution

To manage Registry Tokens through the interface complete the following steps:

  1. Log into the Broadcom Support Portal using your Enterprise User profile. If you do not have a profile, click HERE for instructions on how to create a new profile.

  2. Navigate to My Downloads from where you will see a new Registry Tokens button.

NOTE: The Registry Token button will only be visible if your profile is associated with active products that are Registry Token enabled.

  3. From the Generate Registry Tokens interface you have the ability to view your existing tokens, generate new Registry and API Key tokens, and view the details of each token including the related products the token(s) will be applicable for.

  4. Select the numeric link next from the product value to view a complete list of Registry Token enabled products the token will be applicable for.

NOTE: Only Registry Token enabled products with active entitlements will be visible from this list. If a product entitlement expires, the Registry Token will no longer work for that particular product.

  5. You also have the ability to Regenerate or Revoke Registry Tokens by clicking the three-dot icon from the interface.

  6. Select the API Key tab to manage keys, view details, regenerate or revoke API Keys.

NOTE: Only one API Key can be generated on any given site ID at a time as shown in the screenshot below (Generate API Key button is greyed out).
The bearer token generated using the API Key has a default expiry of 1 hour. This duration cannot be changed.

For instructions on using the API Key to automate the generation of Registry Tokens click HERE.

IMPORTANT: Instructions for applying your new tokens within your products are now available in the applicable Technical Documentation. Click HERE to access our TechDocs Portal.
