Issue/Introduction

After reverting a vCenter to a snapshot, the Content library tab is empty and when we try to create a new Content Library we get the error bellow

Failed to log into [uri=http://xxxx:xxxx/cls/, sessionMgr=SessionManagerInfo [_sessionMgrSvcId=com.vmware.cis.session, _loginOpId=create, _logoutOpId=delete], ssoDomain=secret.lwpop.local(27144148-15ff-4106-a7e9-53ef6189f48d)]: com.vmware.vapi.std.errors.internal_server_error => {data=<unset>, error_type=INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR, messages=[com.vmware.vapi.std.localizable_message => {args=[Failed trying to retrieve token: ns0:RequestFailed: EndTime: Thu Dec 04 17:57:38 GMT 2025 is not after startTime: Fri Dec 05 12:49:31 GMT 2025], default_message=Provider method implementation threw unexpected exception: Failed trying to retrieve token: ns0:RequestFailed: EndTime:xxxxx is not after startTime: xxxxxx, localized=<us=<unset>}]}

Environment

vCenter 8.x

Cause

The STS certificate is not able to authenticate correctly causing token authentication failure.

This error is present in the Content library Creation Wizard :

...com.vmware.vapi.std.errors.internal_server_error => {data=<unset>, error_type=INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR, messages=[com.vmware.vapi.std.localizable_message => {args=[Failed trying to retrieve token: ns0:RequestFailed

Resolution

renew the STS certificate using the vCert tool

Note: ensure you have valid snapshots before making any cert changes
