Issue/Introduction

  • Deployment of VCF Operations for Network using VCF Fleet Manager fails with the following error:
    LCMVRNICONFIG90004
    Error Code: LCMVRNICONFIG90004
    License Activation failed. Check Logs for more detail.
    Error occurred while activating license with Operations-
    networks with host IP ###.###.###.### OK

  • Error in /var/log/vrlcm/vmware_vrlcm.log in VCF Fleet Manager shows the following error:

Environment

VCF Operations for Network 9.0.x
VCF Fleet Manager 9.0.x

Cause

Component password requirements are not met Deploying VCF Operations for Networks. At least one special character, at least 1 number and no spaces.

Resolution

Before following the steps below it is recommended to take snapshots or backups of VCF Fleet Manager

  1. Sign into vCenter UI , locate the VCF Operations for Network VM(s) power it off and rename the VM(s)
  2. Sign into VCF Operations UI
  3. Navigate to Fleet Manager → Lifecycle → VCF Management  → Components → Locate the failed operations-networks deployment → Click on the 3 vertical dots beside the VCF Operations for Network component → Click Delete → Do not select delete VM from vCenter you can do so manually once happy to do so. 
  4. Once deletion task completes Click on Fleet Manager → Lifecycle → VCF Management → locate the operations-networks component → Click Add 
  5. Select New Install and fill in the version and deployment type → Select the correct certificate for your deployment → Click Next → Fill in the appropriate infrastructure details → Click Next → Fill in the appropriate networking details including selecting → Click Next
  6. In the Components tab click on Add Password → Enter in a password alias name and a password that must be a minimum of 15 characters. Deploying VCF Operations for Networks
    At least one special character, at least 1 number and no spaces → For Component Password select the newly created password.  
    Fill in the rest of the component properties → Click Next → Run Precheck → Click Next → Review the configuration → Click on Submit.  Allow sometime for the task to complete. 
  7. Once confirmed that the deployment succeeds, delete the old failed VCF Operations for Network VM(s) from vCenter.
