CA Application Performance Management Agent (APM / Wily / Introscope) INTROSCOPE

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When restarting the APM MQMonitor agent, "ghost queues" on the MQ side intermittently get stuck and do not clear. When this occurs, disk space fills up quickly, potentially causing other issues.

Environment:

All APM environments running the APM MQMonitor agent to monitor queues on an IBM Websphere MQ server.

Resolution:

When restarting the MQMonitor agent, ensure that a 15-minute pause occurs between the stop and subsequent restart of the MQMonitor agent. This will allow ample time for the queues to clear any dead messages, so that the "ghost queues" do not reappear upon restart of the MQMonitor agent.
