Issue/Introduction

  • Host vmkernel adaptor on DSwitch was manually deleted and recreated on vSwitch.

  • Unable to migrate vmkernel adapter back to DSwitch.

Environment

vSphere 8.x

Cause

Orphan stale DSwitch configuration on host after manually deleting the vmkernel that was on the DSwitch and re-creating on the vSwitch.

Resolution

  2. ssh to the esxi host and remove the orphan DSwitch

    # net-dvs -d <DVS Name>

  3. Set the orphan DVS ports to auto-refresh

  4. Proceed to Remove the host from the DSwitch.
  5. Re-Add the Host to the DSwitch

Additional Information
